The success and longevity of a dental implant depends upon many factors. Two of the most important factors are the quality of the bone and the position of the implant as it relates to the new crown. At Resnick Premier Dentistry the standard of care is to have a 3D CT scan taken in order to properly evaluate the proposed implant site.
We are carefully assessing the density of the bone, and proximity to structures like sinuses and nerves. We also have a study model made to evaluate the final position of the tooth that will be supported by the implant.
The 3DDX company in Boston, MA. partners with us to integrate the CT Scan with the study cast in order to precisely plan out the placement and position of the implant. 3DDX fabricates an implant guide that fits in the mouth and has a metal guides that we use to place the implant in the most accurate manner.
Benefits of the CT scan and the implant guide are that we are armed with as much information and data prior to the surgery. We find there are fewer complications and we are able to perform the surgery in a more comfortable, minimally invasive manner.
